Has anyone else filed for child support ? If so how long did it take to hear anything.

I filed for child support thru DHS. And then I took my sons dad to court for custody, and as soon as the judge ordered him to pay by the first of every month, maybe about 3 payments later I started getting it through dhs. Child support is gonna take time

I filed through them to and I still haven't heard a word. Me and her father have no communication whatsoever. So I don't think I'd have to file for custody. I'm not sure on how to check up on it ? @brantleysmommy25,

Hmmm. Maybe call your case worker and find out. The only reason I took him to court because he wasn't gonna give him back, and legally, since his birth father he didn't have to give him back because we didn't have any papers stating custody and stuff

Honestly I was primarily on Tanf but my caseworker made it where in order to save me money since I'd used up most of my time, she had me file for child support

@xxkawaiinekoqueenxx, yes I applied for tanf. My daughter has a kidney issue that causes utis. So I'm always out of work. I'm assuming that will push the child support process ? If I don't hear from them by next month I'm gonna take a trip out there

I'd say talk to your caseworker about it cause that can save your tanf money. It's always an option. I wouldn't entirely depend on child support though unless he got a 12+ hour job or unless he's good with getting her things she needs. I recieve half child support and half tanf for balance.

They say there's only 5 years for tanf and once you use them all there's no going back. Idk about the food stamps.

He's In the military @xxkawaiinekoqueenxx, but he went mia these last couple of months once he found out I was filling for child support. He told me he wasn't paying anything until we did a DNA test and that's why I filled. Cause I wasn't gonna go out of pocket for someone else. Told him to pay and he didn't want to so that's my only option.
