I need advice
Im trying to get child support from my daughters dad, he hasnt been in her life, wanst there when she was born, wasnt there for the pregnancy, never once bought her anything, . shes 3mo. Theres more to the situation but its best i keep it off here.
Im just wondering where to start, should i go to the courthouse, or should i meet with an attorney first, or i had people telling me to just give his name for my daughters medicaid and they will take care of the rest? How does the case worker get paid, is it upfront or do they take it out of the chuld support payments? What do i expect out of the actual hearing, what kind of questions should i be expecting them to ask? Do i need anyone else with me to speak on my behalf? How long is the process usually, or how long was it for you? How many times will we actually appear in court? Im just not sure what to expect and the whole process is terrifying to me.

I was in your situation not long ago And Medicaid asked me questions if i knew whwr my son's father was etc and then i received papers in the mail from the attorney general I had to feel them out it was paternity papers and also to describe how my sons father was blah blah blah. Then they served him and shortly after I got a letter for my cout date we had court and now i get child support. I just started receiving last month

Medicaid doesn't necessarily file for you but when you apply for Medicaid and put his name as father they refer your case to child support and child support contacts you usually by mail within a couple weeks and it goes from there the process does take quite a while though

Yeah i agree with@joanaa. It took about a year for mine to go through. Until attorney general finally contacted me but i would get on it

@joanaa i gave them his name when i got the medicaid but they didnt ask me any additional information. Or send me anthing to fill out :/

Yea I went directly through the office of child support I suggest you to do the same
