If you have your membranes swept, or if you do nipple stimulation to induce labor but it doesn't end up actually starting labor, but it gives you strong painful contractions for a while, do those contractions actually do anything? Like is it possible to help your cervix dilate slowly over the course of days or even weeks instead of just jump starting labor for the same day??
