OK. I'm new on here. I mainly got this to ask a very odd question that I need polite responses for.. I have a 4 year old that "humps" yes sexually. He puts his hands on his peepee and humps on couch or where ever. I ask him why he does it and he says "it tickles his peepee". IDK what to tell him besides go to his room and close the door..i want him to stop but I don't want to make him think is wrong but it is.. Help! Lol feel free to PM me.

I believe this is natural. That you are doing the right thing by telling him to do this in private. At this age it's not a sexual thing but a sensation to them. I would address it if it occurs in places other than the bedroom and encourage him to go into private and do it.

That's all I know to tell him. That it's private thing and no body needs to see that..i don't want to effect him mentally in the future by telling him it's wrong. I just think its strange..

Drs suggest not addressing it as an odd behavior, it's normal for kids to do. My niece would do the same thing in order to fall asleep. She turned out completely normal. If they sense they are doing something wrong it can affect them mentally. It's best to ignore the behavior and tell other adults to do the same. It's a normal phase that goes away on its own. If the behavior doesn't subside or if it increases you can offer other activities he enjoys to distract away from the behavior. Like for my niece I would have her run or play athletic games before bedtime to exert out her added energy so she was able to sleep without the need to "rock" herself to sleep. I've seen other children do the same behavior and it generally goes away on its own. If you make a big deal about it sometimes it continues simply because it's a way they know they'll gain attention.
