How do you help cradle cap? I've been putting lotion on it but not sure what else I can do.
I smeared my son's head with vasoline and then put a hat on him. Left it on for hours and then washed it out and combed out the flakes. It takes a long time to get all the oil out but he was oil and flake free like 3 days after and hasn't had a flake since.
Lynnies doctor told me to put Vaseline on it & brush it to get it rubbed in.
@mcrowell0970, I might have to get that! I use johnsons Shea and cocoa butter right now.
@guaderrama_babies2, I'll prbly just do coconut oil since it's not too bad. Thank you!
@xalyssasays the T-gel made it go away fast like in two days. The coconut oil treatments take a while to work like maybe a week's worth of baths to see a difference.
Both my boys had it. I would put a lot of coconut oil on their head and rub it in an hour before I would bathe them. In the bath I would use a soft bristle brush and brush baby shampoo into their hair in circular motion and rinse. I did this every time I would bathe them. If it's really bad I would use Nutrogena T-gel shampoo. It is not a baby shampoo but it is for cradle cap. Our pediatrician recommends it for bad cradle cap. If you use it do not get it on babies eyes because it will burn. I usually have my fiance help me wash their hair as I hold him above the tub so the water falls down and not in baby's face.
I've heard of putting breast milk on it. Also coconut oil I've heard has helped.
