Most work from home jobs you'll find are going to be some sort of "be your own boss with our company" deals. You work with an existing company that retails something like cosmetics, hair care, dietary supplements, etc. Basically you sell their products for them through social media or via friends.
Starting out most offer compensations in the way of free products for yourself, but if you're good at it and are comfortable putting yourself out there, you can turn it into a successful business.
Alternatively, you can pick up some sort of craft like making jewelry, crocheting or knitting, sewing, etc, and sell things you make online through sites like Etsy.
If you like to talk and are passionate about something, you can start a blog as well. Making money off a blog takes a lot of time and patience though, so you've got to be really dedicated to it.
Just be careful not to fall for any work from home scams. You can identify those easily because they're very vague about what kind of work you'll actually be doing and usually have an up front charge that they try to sell by making you think you're getting a great deal. (I.e "Our service is easily worth thousands of dollars, but we're going to give it to you for a low price of just $99!")

Hope this helps. Good luck!
