This whole experience has just been eye opening. We had everything planned out, we thought we were fully prepared. But NOTHING has gone how we planned lmao. I planned to EBF for at least the first year but ended up having to stop after a month. We planned to cloth diaper and that did NOT happen. We planned to have her in her crib from day one. LOL. She slept in my arms for the first 4 months and now sleeps in a swing. I thought I'd be constantly playing with her and have her clinging to me 24/7 but most days I just end up chilling on the couch while she plays. I thought I'd still be able to cook and maintain my perfect house. I haven't cooked in over a month and my house is a disaster (a moment of silence for that dead hope, please). I didn't think I'd get hit with PPD but here I am 8 months later still struggling. She had colic. She has reflux. She fights sleep. I'm permanently exhausted and stressed. Even my birth went completely different than how I'd planned it. It was a rude awakening to say the least. You can't plan for life. I stayed up crying so many nights thinking id failed as a mother, when I hadn't. I'm a good mom. Things just happened a little differently than I'd hoped. But that's life, isn't it?
My improvising skills are through the roof, now, though.

I thought I was going to do the same thing. Wait the full term. I almost made it. I wanted her to come when she wanted too. I wanted a natural birth. Ended up having a c-section. She had jaundice, eczema all over. From head to toe. After 18 months she finally sleep through the night. My house is cleaned but I'm a detail cleaner with a tad bit of OCD. But this past year I've slacked on the detailing part. I cry too. I fear failing as her mother but I have come to learn that this is my first child my first time being a mother and the support of my close family and friends I know I am a good mom. You are a good mom. You've sacrificed your dreams and yourself to bring this lil person in this cruel world to do your best to raise your lil one on the right path and to teach right from wrong. Keep your head up Mom. You are just getting started. Never stop planing. Just always keep a backup plan for the original plan even if you have to improvise. Life will always throw a curveball when u least expect it. Just words of encouragement from a 1st time Mom to another.
