Only after like the first day when your nipples get sore! Make sure you have nipple cream ready to go and your nipples will toughen up real quick to the challenge! It becomes so natural so fast and just getting to watch your baby eat is such a blessing!
If your baby has a bad latch yes it can be extremely painful. Get him to latch correctly with lactation consultants help right away and don't give him a paci or bottle for a month. The latch is everything ~
The first few weeks it did for me then i found out she wasn't latching right so i used the cream every time. Now that she latches right doesn't hurt at all and dont need the cream.
@itsdess, LC say it should never b painful well the truth is after u and baby get it figured out it's not but in the beginning it can be uncomfortable I had pain from soreness of constant feeding but not really a bad latch @shellbell0391, gave good advise no paci or bottle better yet if u don't wk I would never give baby bottle my son is 6m still hasn't had a bottle he does good with water soppy cup so I plan to put my milk in cup pretty soon once he is using a high chair

In all honestly in the beginning it hurts but if you keep pushing you can manage and the discomfort will ease up within the month.
