Dog mommies out there -
So my daughter turns 3 in April, and I would LOVE to get her a puppy. I've been getting mixed opinions on whether or not I should do it. For starters, we just bought a brand new house with all wood floors and all new furniture and my husband would freak out if anything got ruined.. and our baby will be about 4 months old..
I work 3 nights a week and am home all day, and when I'm at work my husband is home, so someone would be home with it every day.
What are your opinions? Neither of us have owned a puppy, so we don't really know what to expect..

@dabcw3814, lol hub would never go for that, he wants a big dog like a German shepherd or Doberman

A puppy is a lot of work, and training. All dogs take training, but a puppy has a lot more energy to get out. I loved having dogs growing up, and I have had my current dog for about 5 years and just had my first baby, so the dog is already trained. I did hear that kids that grow up with pets are less likely to be sick as adults...if that helps...

A rescue dog is a great idea, especially if they're older they will most likely have already been trained by the workers at the rescue. Definitely a good option to look into !

@karinas_mommy, awesome, thanks for the response. I want to rescue a dog that's maybe like 2-3 but the hub wants a puppy. I guess we should just hold off a bit more

A puppy is a great idea but you have to have a lot of time & patience when training it .. & there will definitelyyyy be accidents, so if your husband isn't okay with the possibility of pee & poop on the wood floors or a piece of furniture being chewed than you should hold off. Training is a process it doesn't happen in one day. I've had dogs all my life, I loved growing up with animals & now my daughter who is almost 2 & our pitbull who is almost 4 are the bestttt of friends 😁
