For the Mumma's who's little ones used to have a pacifier how did you manage to get them off it?
Morgan only had a dummy to get to sleep so I wasn't in a rush to get rid of them. I think I'd gone up to the next size & he wasn't as keen so it wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be when I chucked them out. I didn't think it was safe letting him have a dummy if he was chewing them. Especially as he has them over night to sleep. But I guess it may br easier to phase them out the younger they are as it'll be harder when their older!
@jodiec, lol Jodie don't worry my son will probably be the same! @sara-lou I think I'm going to try that, I recently changed the size of his and he's been unsure about it so I was thinking maybe it'll be a good time to get rid now than later. He managed to fall asleep without it today so I'm hoping he keeps it up. @firsttimemummy86, my health visitor said to try get rid of it by 6 months so I wanted to give it ago. Obviously if it upsets him to much then I'll probably wait a little. I've heard people saying it doesn't help teeth growth and speech xx
I think when children have pacifiers, its best to leave it with them till they are ready to let it go or at least they have a little more understanding as it is their comfort object and the most precious thing to them. Most children have them at least till the age of 2.
Morgan started biting his around 17/18months so I threw them in the bin. Had a couple unsettled nights but then he forgot all about them. Some parents have made a big deal about giving them up & getting a present for being a big girl/boy. I didn't think he'd understand that concept though.
@sara-lou, Zakariyya has been the same! Yesterday most the time he was just bitting on them and during the day he went sleep without them. At night he asked for it but as soon as he fell asleep I moved it away. Unfortunately his fallen poorly today and it's the only thing keeping him content 😩 xx
