Is it true that babies should be on 2.5 oz per lb they weigh of formula? so since my son was 7lbs 6oz at birth he should have been on 17.5 oz of formula

It may be more of a guideline? My boy would at about a month have 3oz a bottle about 8-10 times a day. By that math he should have been 12lbs+, and he wasn't.
