Yeah I needed extra because I had the gastric bypass, so when I was pregnant they watched me carefully to make sure I had the right levels at all times. You could ask them to do labs for you to make you feel more at ease. My doctor always did labs when I asked. When I was pregnant with my first my iron dropped so low I needed infusions, and then we found out we miscarried a few months later. Doctor said they were unrelated, but I always worried so when I got pregnant again with my little girl I was always on top of my labs and took extra vitamins (with doctor approval of course) just to make sure. Don't worry too much, like the doctor told me, the baby will take what they need from you! 😊
Its best to get the vitamins through food. Dark leafy greens and I like to add spirulina to my smoothies. Beans like lentils are amazing. If youre not vegan b12 from yogurt and eggs. If you do supplement then folate is supposedly better than folic acid and methyl b12 is best absorbed compared to cyanocobalamin
@kambam, wow very helpful info ! I have an appointment here but it's weeks away I just want to start doing the right things now. And I am vegan. I've never been pregnant vegan I'm kinda freaked out. I hope I can provide my baby with the proper nutrients it needs to grow
You'll be ok I think. You'll just have to find a good prenatal and eat as many diff things as you can ☺ I mean, some women dont eat much of anything due to morning sickness and their babies come out ok 😆
