Why at almost 6 months old is my son still not anywhere close to sleeping through the night? Am I the only one? I've done and do everything to ensure he should be sleeping longer periods of time. I feel like instead of the slow progress we were making, I'm right back to square one again. I'm lucky lately if he sleeps an hour at a time if that by himself in his crib. Sigh😕

It took around 5 months for my daughter to sleep through the night. At first it was little times. An hour. Two hours. So on and so fourth. Maybe he's just not ready to sleep all the way through yet. How naps does he take during the day?

I have 3 boys that all slept through the night consistently by the time they were 4 months old. Now I have a little girl that just turned 1 this weekend and she has slept thru the night twice. In a year. And she hardly naps at all during the day. She is killing me. I just want a full night of sleep. Is that so much to ask for?? Ugh.
Jess·
He doesn't nap much during the day unless it's with me he will for a couple hours once. But he's at the pint right now where he'll sleep an hour and then won't go back down after before He'd sleep 2-3 hours and I could get him back down for another couple hrs and so on now nope forget it@jaderbug, and I feel you@jenngarcia1755, it's super frustrating. I've exhausted all my resources and I'm finally making him cry it out ( his pediatrician told me let him cry for 15-20 mins if he's still crying then tend to him) and he's pissed but I've done everything else and he'll have to get over it. I feel bad but when I say I do everything I do everything. I need sleep alone without him. 😕 I just see All these moms who are like yeah my baby has been sleeping 6 plus hours since the first week. Like did I do something wrong ? Why won't mine. Longest he's ever slept in one time was 5 Hrs. That wAs once.

I have tried to let her cry it out somewhat but her dad is a big ol pushover and why would I let his little princess cry like that?? Can't I hear that she needs us?? Lol. Come on!!! I'm like... okay. You wanna get her up again??!! Then YOU stay up with her. I am going to bed. (This can usually buy me about an hour... 2 hours of I'm lucky)

At 5 months was when my son went through sleep regression and at that point I just prayed that he slept more than 2 hours straight and that lasted for about 4 or more weeks of him getting up 4-6 times a night😴 thankfully once he was a little over 6 months it got better and around 6 1/2 months he was back down to waking up once at night and randomly slept through the night like 3 times but he generally wakes between 1-3 every night which is why I'm awake now! Be careful what you wish for though! I wished for more sleep before and I got sleep regression which is the devil😳🙈😴

Mine wakes up to eat in the middle of the night. Once, but nonetheless

Does he know how to self soothe?? My son was the worst sleeper and was waking every 1-2 hours but we did some sleep training and he learned to self soothe and he sleeps 630-630 straight now. Of course there will always be regressions and bumps in the road but teaching the baby to self soothe is key
Jess·
Omg yes it's the devil! He's going through a 5 month regression too it's the worst! I was happy with him sleeping 3 hours lol but now it's just back to square one with this damn regression. @trice4990, and no not really @dylansmom, I've started to let him cry it out 😕 I've done everything else there is but that. He's so use to me though I'm his comfort I'm his pacifier... It's tough I can't wait for this regression to be over and he hopefully goes back to what his normal was lol it wasn't the best but I'd take where he was at over this any day!
lauren·
Yea these regressions are a challenge!! We just got over the 8 month regression which for us was worse than the 4 month regression. We had to re sleep train my son because he slept through the night after the 4 month regression ended and then suddenly "forgot" after the 8 month one. Hes back sleeping through the night again but my advice is to let him figure out how to self soothe. Its the only thing that will allow him to be able to put himself back to sleep after wakeups @missjess,

@missjess, once the regression was over we did do the "cry it out" method to get him to sleep better and it did work. It would've just never worked during the regression. And now most the time he's like he was last night, goes to bed at 8, woke up around 2, and went back to sleep till like 815. I get a good 12 hours out of him now

They are a nightmare. My son didn't sleep that great to begin with but we were making a slow progress and he wasn't as difficult. Now I'm just like when is this crap going to end its going on 3 weeks and he probably will have forgotten to where he was before this. I keep trying to do the same routine and enforcing his crib like before but not much luck. I had him cry last night and he did go back to sleep and woke up and cried a little and went back to sleep a couple times. I tried doing that again this morning but once it's light out theirs no enforcing his sleep in his crib he just won't. It's tough! @dylansmom, @trice4990,
lauren·
Yea i know been there done that!! F hes going back to sleep after crying thats actually a good thing as much as it is hard for u. Id honestly stick with that for a few nights and see if he learns to soothe himself without all the tears

@missjess, yeah it's definitely tough but it'll pass! My sons regression was over 4 weeks long😴😴 hang in there!
