My opinion. I think if a parent lays a hand on their child it's because the parent is out of control when trying to be controlling. I don't think it's right and a parent should never lay a hand on their baby. Now, I haven't always thought this. This thought process comes with maturity which hopefully your bf will raise up to.

I think spanking is not ok. It's very damaging

My hubby used to get hit and he won't touch our baby. My own opinion is that it teaches the child to act out w hitting when he or she doesn't get his own way. But to each their own.

I believe whatever YOU think is OK and not OK to do should be what is done. This subject is so sensitive because people have strong arguments on it being ok and not ok. So I believe if you think it's not ok then talk to him about it, in not letting it happen. Xo

I spanked her when she started to run into the street. But I won't hit her just cuz she won't listen or "break a rule" we don't really have rules for her. She listens for the most part lol. We do time out but it's not too effective for us.

My family uses spanking. I got spanked as a child. All 10 of my nieces and nephews get spanked with a belt, shoe, hand pretty much anything when they do something that's really bad. Me and my husband don't think spanking is bad as long as we don't leave a mark. I've spanked my nieces and nephews before but I always tried to redirect or talk or time out first. If they didn't listen then yes I would grab the belt. Now I don't think spanking for little things such as not picking up toys or something small is ok but if it's something big and bad yes I'll be spanking my child with a belt, hand, shoe anything to teach her a lesson.

It's all about what works for you . Don't listen to others @exoticyuri if you feel you need to spank then spank if not then there are other methods. Do what you feel is right for your child because all children are different and not all respond to spanking

Well not horrible sparks just enough so they get the point but honestly there are other ways.. I mean spanking is temporary fix but not a long term fix.

Mine doesn't respond to spanking.. I tried her on it but never works.

She just gets mad and acts even more bad. Sometimes I get really angry and spank her harder and then actually hurt her to a point and she stops what she's doing because it hurts her not because I'm teaching her a lesson.. so honestly spanking is dumb.. really..

@montsymua21, if my mom spanked me I felt betrayed..... and felt like... at this point idc... but when she told me she'd take away privileges I'd be on my toes. You can hold your breath and get spanked... but you can't hold your breath for a week with no tv
