I've been reading where six week olds begin to sleep longer.. and I'm still looking at my twins like catch the memo. My daughter will sometimes sleep almost four hrs but my son is every 2 hrs like clock work. Now I was told the cereal in milk to help them sleep longer is a myth but idk.. my daughter is on cereal due to her acid reflux and she sleeps longer than my son and he's on just formula. Also my daughter fights sleep soo hard! omg. I do wonder though, technically they are premies (I had them at 36.6) if that has something to do with it cause if we go by due date (40 weeks) they are 3 weeks old.

@twinmom1227 oh girl yes! It was very rough especially having preemies. And honestly every Dr is it different but my boys pediatrician office supported the rice cereal for babies who need it. And no it doesn't have much nutrition but that's what the formula is for. Without the cereal my boys would have never gained the weight they were suppose to. I also started them on stage one baby food at 4 months and 2 oz half and half juice at 6 months and my boys are healthy and happy 😊

@andrewsmommy OK and that's like i said you have to do what's best for that particular child and through all the options we tried this works best. her tummy is also fine, like the other mom said above her twins was on it this young and now they are 3 yrs old and fine. Unfortunately your son was one of the children that can't take cereal doesnt mean it's a bad thing for all

My son did have acid reflux very bad so yes I do know the options available and how hard it is. My son wasn't given the rice cereal because it messes up with bellies as they get older. He had acid reflux until he was 6 months. But hey your child your choice. Yes I'd be happy too if it helped my child from choking but for some children it doesn't do good.

@southernmomma it's rough isn't it. I'm just amazed at those that didn't have to go through it saying cereal shouldn't be an option. That cereal work wonders and your twins are 3 yrs and healthy, I'm sure my daughter will be fine.

@andrewsmommy we actually tried many different options and this one seems to work best. if it's keeping my daughter from choking then I'm happy with it. shes growing fine she's healthy and happy. Enfamil A.R. is for babies with acid reflux and the A.R stands for added rice..which is also something she's been on and did a great job with. I'm not too quick to put my kids on medications that have side effects when her rice is showing nothing but good signs in here. Her pediatrician did her job my daughter isn't the first and won't be the last. if you don't have a child with acid reflux then you have no idea how hard it is or the options available to your particular child.

But they have medication for babies so young with acid reflux she doesnt need that cereal crap. Its no good in nutrients. Sounds like your dr honestly just gave you the bullshit way of getting her acid reflux to calm down. My son was on formula and cereal for sleeping at 6 months and didn't help at all.

I have a while to go then. No, the cereal isnt for her to sleep. Her pediatrician did it due to her milk choking her as she regergitates it at every feed. it doesn't sit in her stomach so they have us giving her rice cereal to hold it down. it's the same as the enfamil a.r. I hate that she has to have it so soon but calling the paramedic because I can't get the milk out here throat, which I had to do isn't fun 😣.. now that she's on it I can breathe and sleep again. she would choke like an hr later and I've actually woke up to her choking one day. It was just too much. she still does it but no where near as bad and she's learning to spit it out now which is good. once her esophagus muscles strengthen up they'll take her off

It is not suggested to give cereal before 6 months old. Every baby is different they will get there! I wondered when my son would be the same and he was a little over 2 months before he started sleeping better but then there's growth spurts and sleep regressions and his sleep regression lasted more than 4 weeks and he slept worse than a newborn and he just got over that not too long ago! So they'll go through strange patterns but trying to give them cereal too little can really mess with their system
