Our heat cut out overnight. It's about 50 degrees. Had to bundle Isabelle up in about twelve layers bc she's so cold. 😔 And our shitty ass landlord (aka my boyfriend's dad) is trying to make us pay to get it fixed, which we simply can't do after just paying out the ass in rent. Guess we'll be staying with family until we can figure something out.

If y'all are renting a place, it isn't your responsibility to fix the heat, ac, water heater, etc. It is your landlords responsibility.

What my sister does, is if they, themselves pay for something to be fixed, they deduct it from their rent. Their rent is about $2450 a month. If it costs $2000 to repair, they pay $450 that month.

This is a general idea of what a landlord has to do. They have to make sure that your house or apartment, is habitable.
Heat on the winter, ac in the summer, etc. Don't give in girl.

@breloya the only issue is that because it's family we're renting from, my boyfriend didn't think a lease was necessary. so I'm not sure what kind of renters rights we have, if any.
