My son will be 4 months in 3 days. Is it alright to start him on baby cereals? He seems to want to be eating every hour but throws up quite a bit if we feed him more breast milk. But then will act hungry again in 20 minutes or so. Would baby cereal help keep him full? Were going nuts with him because he wont nap or sleep through the night anymore because hes always acting hungry. But when we feed him again he either wont accept it or will eat very little and wake up again within half an hour acting like he needs more. I talked to his doctor and she didnt say much about it and said he definitely doesnt have reflux. She said "its up to you, it wont hurt him" but i wanted advice from other moms on this before buying some baby cereal for him.

My doctor said we could start him on baby oatmeal at 4mo since he was eating 8oz bottles 4-5 times a day, he was able to sit up, and was showing lots of interest in what we were eating. She said to skip rice cereal for reasons I cannot remember.

i was planning doing the oatmeal. Rice cereal has little to no nutritional value. Thats what i read anyways.@nomaci

@cubanese, is right (like always lol). Also four months is a growth spurt. Basically every 3 weeks, every 3 months are growth spurts. Baby will clusterfeed to build up your supply because they're getting bigger. As long as diapers are plentiful there's no cause for concern of baby not eating enough.
