For mom vets: did you make a big deal for your child's first birthday? I'm wanting to do something for my sons birthday…

no I didn't because they have no clue what is going on. it's not even for them, it's really for everyone else.

I think the first few birthdays are more for the parents to celebrate their year with their new blessing and if you want to go all out you do it. For my two we just had friends and family over .. no big party.. but they are days I remember for the rest of my life. Now I have to plan two "big kid" party's a month a part and I'm starting my planning months early too!

I did a party for my sons first birthday, I got decorations from the dollar store and reserve a park pavilion that was free. And I got a cake that came with a free smash cake. The first couple birthdays are more for the parents, I loved having a party for him, it helped make memories and since they won't remember it you don't have to go all out.

Thanks to you all @kathale95, @cubanese, @beebaby, I wanted to do like a prince theme birthday for him I don't plan on spending much but I do want to make the memories and that's what his father and I are more concerned about. We have tons of pics of him now and my mom created books for us so we can have the memories. My sister said to celebrate the first fifth tenth sixteen and eighteenth birthdays and do smaller things in between. I think I like that idea.

@courtneye26, that sounds like a good idea to me. You would be surprised at what they have at the dollar stores, we did Mickey Mouse clubhouse for my son and it was fine

Yeah. I had a small party with family and close friends to celebrate but nothing major.

i had a huge party whether he remembers or not the big 1 is a huge milestone and i have plenty of pictures to have as memories. i probably will do a party every year.

Baby deserves it! But If you really want to "not waste money and invest in his future" have an adult dinner party in honor of him. The guest can give savings bonds, cash for college, etc. set him up an account in advance and have people put money in it. That way you get to enjoy the fruits of your labor on the party... i.e. The dinner and drinks. And he gets some moola he doesn't know he got and grandma is happy. Lol

My first one I did. My second on I did not and my third one I did not. Instead, we do it big for the 2nd birthday.

Yes @courtneye26 I wanted a party for my child, not my family. And even at the big 2nd bash, there were so many gifts that after they were opened, I put half away for Christmas and he never knew the wiser!
