Question: what is a non stress test and why do
They do them? I'm seeing a faternal medicine specialist for my GD and she told me I needed to be back in 3 weeks for my non stress test and gave me no explanation. So I'm a little worried. First time mom, thank you in advanced!

I THINK they just strap a monitor to your belly and monitor baby's heart rate and movements

Maybe it's standard since you have GD?? Not sure. Are you considered high risk?

I'm not sure. But I'm assuming it'd have something to do with that. Hopefully someone else who knows answers!!

Yeah it's just the monitor they strap on your tummy to see heart rate and contraction line. Might have to do with your Gd

They do ultrasounds and hook you up to check baby's heart rate. They probably want to check on her size since gestational diabetes can cause larger babies, or maybe they're checking on her fluid levels. I had lots of non stress tests with my first son, and with my second I was on constant 24/7 monitoring for a week. Consider it Extra chances to see or hear your baby.

I had high blood pressure. And they stared me on non stress test at 32 weeks twice a week. They just check baby heart rate and movements.

@mommy_too_be3.24.17, this is what mine looked like. Two belts strapped to my belly. One to Check heart rate and the other to Check fetal movement. You click a button every time you feel the baby move. They're looking for a good heart rate and movement. Making sure baby isn't under stress and since you're near the end they most likely want to make sure with your GD that baby is doing well. My baby is measuring big and I'm older so they did several NST's on me.
