Do people know if your having a big baby if extra measures will be taken? I.E does it change…

hey Im asking myself the same question as most babies on my hubbies side are big, my husbands big himself and has broad shoulders so im thinking what will happen if baby measures big.

My baby was measuring bigger than average but they ve not offered me any extra measures and I am 40 weeks+2 x

Hi my baby girl was almost 10pounds when she was born! Through out my pregnancy I had lots of growth scans because they said she was to small!! I had a normal natural birth with no complications but when she was born because she was large she had to have diabetes testing which was a heel prick every hour I think when I was still in hospital. It all came back fine and that was it everything since has just been straight forward same as a average size baby 😊 xx

@isabellaboo Did you have pain relief or all natural? Looks like my baby will be like 11lbs and it runs in my family too x

I had a water birth and just gas and air the birth was pretty quick I was in labor for about 8 hours in total I had 1 tiny tear which needed stitches and that about it :) xx

@isabellaboo Wow, respect to you. That makes me feel so much better because I want a natural water birth but I'm scared incase she gets stuck and wether itd be alot worse pain as she's going to be alot bigger than other babies. Glad you had a smooth labour, when you say labour.. how long were you pushing for and how long were contractions? x

My waters broke at 1am then my contractions started straight away about 5 minutes apart I went straight to hospital and was already 5cm I got in the birthing pool and at 9am started pushing I was pushing for about 1 minute and that was it!! I developed diabetes when I was pregnant which Is probably why she was big but it went after I gave birth. 😊is she head down?xx

Yeah she is head down has been for a while but haven't been told if she is engaged n that's amazing, I hope my labour goes that well x

Try not to worry have a planned for a water birth? It helped so much with the pain and delivery 😊

Well I discuss my birth plan on my next midwife visit but that's what I wanted to go for before I found out she was going to be a big baby. Now I still want to have a water birth but I'm worried about the pain even more now lol and how they would deal with it if she got stuck I.e wether they would be able to give me pain medication before they move her etc x

I'm sure they would I don't think your allowed certain pain relief with a water birth though so I would double check with the midwife 😊
