Has anybody's kids had to go under anesthesia ever? I was trying to be strong about this whole thing and think positive and then my mom really had to say "you take a chance every time you go under" .. Thanks mom.

not sure. each situation is different and as I'm not familiar with yours it makes things a little more difficult lol.
My mom said when I was 4 I had this same procedure and I woke up happy too... I'm going to get a list of questions for when they call to tell me what time to come in that day.. Any suggestions on what I should ask?? I'm so nervous @cassienka,
My son is autistic so they had to put him under to do an MRI. I had to hold him in my lap while they had four other nurses and doctors hold him steady to administer an IV. They even warned me he'd just pass out mid scream. Nothing was ever so terrifying and even after they warned me I freaked and cried for about a minute. It's instinct. But take deep breaths and remember that the doctors are there to help. My son came out right as rain and a happy camper for the nap lol!!!!
@cassielee, I'm sure everything will be fine, and much harder for you than her😉. I have 2 friends that has a 3 year old and a 5 year old that just had surgery in December and one in early January removing their tonsils and adenoids. They gave them something to make them drowsy before leaving mommy. It would be hard for them to start the process if the child is having a hard time. Ask your dr. I'm sure they'll give her something too esp if you tell them she'll have separation anxiety. I know how you feel. 😕
They should give her something to make her sleepy before going back for the initial anesthesia. My son is 12 and I know they normally do that for the little ones. If it's ok to ask, what kind of procedure is she having done?

@cassielee, I'm not sure of that but definitely ask them what you could do since you know she will be scared and crying
My mom said when I was a kid they gave me some kind of drink to make me a little loopy and then took me back there. Did they do anything like that? @anyae23, I had surgery when I was like 10 though too and I remember I had my aunt there and my stuffed animal and they just left once I fell asleep :/
@cassielee, try giving her her favorite thing stuffed animal book ect to calm her while back there
@cassielee, you could try to get her to calm down before hand but I'm pretty sure they won't allow you back there for any of it

My son did just last November. He had appendicitis. I took him to the best hospital (children's) and they told me it was their #1 surgery in boys his age. I held it together till they took him back because if he seen mommy as weak he would worry too. Once he went back I hit my knees in prayer and he was done in 20 minutes. I babied him for weeks after just loving on him. I prayed with him beforehand too to comfort him. It's hard... I know. 😐
My daughter did to get a penny from her throat. I cried when she was going back, but it was over in about 20 minutes and she's perfectly fine (health wise lol she's a wild one)
my son was partially sedated to get stiches in his upper lip (He busted it open) right before he was 1 and 1/2 and on Monday he's going in for surgery and they said I could go back (personally I cant after the first time ) my sister is going to do it ..im so nervous for him but it's a routine, outpatient surgery
