I was told by my pediatrician that the recommendation now is to not use walkers ever. I'm so disappointed that we just bought Caroline one and now that's one less thing that can help her be active and independent

I asked my sons doctor about his walker and she said if you already have it use it. He goes in his walker.

Why do they recommend that you don't use it?

since when? and why?

It actually can delay their walking. In their walker they can't see their feet "walking" so the brain doesn't connect it. That's what I heard @js_kidsmom, @destynimommy,

My son never used one and was walking by one

that's weird my oldest walked at 9 months and my youngest at 10months. both used walkers

We've had my son in a walker or a jumper since he was just over 4 months. He's not quite 9 months yet and he's really close to walking. His legs are really strong.

The paper said it can cause children to walk funny because it teaches them to just learn forward and push with their toes. It also said it is a hazard cause it can tip over or they can reach stuff and pull things onto them. If it's the recommendation then I'm definitely not going to use one!

Now you made me ask my reputable sources. They said walkers are bad but jumpers are ok but only 20 min per day.
