No judgement quick question ladies. I know not everyone agrees with the ferber method of sleep training (progressive waiting cry it out) but has anyone done it successfully? Has it worked for naps?
We're currently on day 4 and bedtimes have been life changing. I went from waking EVERY SINGLE HOUR to getting 4-8 hour stretches of sleep!
However I haven't been able to have the heart to stick with it for naps, it hurts to make baby cry for majority of the day and also because he doesn't sleep he is really upset and cranky throughout the day.
If anyone has done it successfully for naps then I may give it a go in a week or two after bedtimes are established. Let me know.

I need to try it... the situation is really really bad, and i don't know what else to try. so far I've tried it once and didn't pick up for 1h50min, Daria did not fall asleep and was in a right state. I picked her up in the end and ruined absolutely everything. it was the worst day of my life. thinking about starting again on Monday. or not...
how long did your son cry for the first time? how terrible was it? glad to hear its working! they say you need to suffer for 2 weeks and then you have a good pattern forever, so if it works - its better for everyone! being sleep deprived is very bad for babies too. you are doing the right thing!!!

@kate_smith oooww! I'll be honest we would have tapped out at one hour! That's hard! Did you do a long bedtime wind down routine with bath and everything? Did you give her a good 3 hours plus since her last nap? And also did you spend only 1 minute or so when going in to comfort?
He cried 50 minutes first day, 30 minutes day 2, 8 minutes day 3! And today he accidentally fell asleep in his last feed and so when he woke again he went about 30 minutes again. I'll be honest today was the hardest, his voice seemed broken from crying 💔 but honestly I have no choice. I did all the soft methods and they aggravated him more and I was at the point of exhausting where it was causing my relationship problems and even made me a very harsh mother, I had no patience for him because I was so so so tired.
Have you got the actual book BTW? Because ferber says it only takes 4 days and after 7 days if you have no improvement then to actually stop and reevaluate.

yes me with my oldest I did it for bedtime worked a treat so done it for naps too and was the best thing I ever did, worked as well for his naps x

@mummyto1soon2be2 Did you stick to straight ferber method? I. E. After 30 mins if he's not asleep forget the nap and wait for next nap time? Because what happened with the first times we tried that was either he'd miss the nap and then be so cranky that he wouldn't get off my lap at all (none of that, oh if he falls asleep on his play mat let him, he wouldn't get off me!) or when he cries himself to sleep he wakes up 15 minutes later crying and needs help to sleep again, unlike according to the book you're supposed to just end a nap even if it's short???

@mrsmowmow ooooh yes so I think I defo need a softer approach to day time. Him crying is causing his naps to be so short and also I don't have the option of staying in for 2 weeks till naps are sorted. I'd go mental not leaving the house for more than 3 days lol.
