I am so proud of myself. Since Greyson was born yesterday I planned to give breastfeeding my best try. I didn't breastfeed my oldest two, but this time around, knowing more than I did then, I definitely wanted to give my best effort. I had been trying all night. The nurses here helped as best they could, my pm nurse put in a consult for the lactation specialist. But this morning for one of his feedings, I used the nipple shield and he actually latched and sucked, for a good 5 or 6 minutes!!! He's having a harder time with the right breast, but we are getting it. I supplemented with formal after giving each feeding our best try. As much as I want to breastfeed, it's just important that he eats! Feeling good! We accomplished something and with practice we'll get better. Also, my nipples are very sore.
