My daughter just started sleeping with an actual blanket when she turned 5 1/2 months...she started sleeping with her lovey when she was 4 months. It started getting colder so I decided to put a blanket on her when she sleeps, but I also started putting her to sleep in her rock n play (by fisher price) so it's a little easier since she doesn't put it over her face. Good luck!!!!

My daughter is only 7 months but has slept with one from the time she was born.
