anyone have any tips or tricks for taking a 9 month old on a plane?
@jaxmama thank you! We're surprising my dad for his birthday and hubby couldn't get off
Yes! I am thankful for that one! Your a trooper tho! I could never do that alone.
@jaxmama oh yes lol! Thank goodness it sounds like you might have some help for the trip though.
Oh nice!! And thank you I'm gonna need it! I'm flying with my son and my husband both who have never flown before along with my mom dad and niece! Haha I'm gonna be soooo jet lagged!
@jaxmama awesome thank you so much! i only have to go from NC to TX but good luck on your flight!!
Try to have him sleepy by the time you get on the plane. Bring a stroller between flights. I would recommend those 10/20 dollar ones. If you buy food and drink inside the airport after checkpoint you can bring it on the plane. Movies, phones, blanket, etc. anything you know that calms them in case they happen to be wide awake or fussy. And yes like someone also mentioned, try to give them the juice as the plane takes off because as long as they swallow they're ears should pop! Good luck 😊👍 I'll be on an 11/12 hour flight in a few months with a 20 month old and that's not counting between flights! I'm prepping myself!
Don't use ear drops in his ear if not needed. From a nurse perspective. @shelbyurbanyi,
@ajenkins612 sorry lol but thanks for all the great tips!
It's better that way! I have a 3 year old and I'm struggling to get the damn thing away! 😩😑
@ajenkins612 no we tried but he wanted nothing to do with it
Does he use a nookie? Because that will also help with the pressure of changing altitudes
@ajenkins612 didn't think about ear drops! thanks and we have 42 minutes between flights so hopefully theyre close lol!
As long as he's swallowing. You got this mama. @shelbyurbanyi,
@nurseriri I'm not taking a carseat but definitely the stroller! I wish i could take my husband but he couldn't get off work to go. I dont breast feed but maybe i can give him a bottle during take off?
Bring ear drops too, idk if it happens to babies but sometimes my ears won't pop and they get super sore, if he starts to get fussy that could be why, it's good you have a break in between at least, he will have fun!
@ajenkins612 its 6 hours total including the changing flights.
@shelbyurbanyi, no tricks per say. We've traveled international 3 times since my son was 4 months. Umbrella stroller is a must, when traveling with car seat get a car seat cover, Fanny pack and try not to let them sleep before flight. I breastfeed so I breast feed during takeoff to prevent his ear from hurting. Always try to travel with company. Makes for easier flight.
@ajenkins612 okay thanks! we have to switch planes so im not looking forward to it and im going by myself
Keep him up as long as possible before hand, usually the vibrations of the plane puts them to sleep, bring a small carry on with juice and snacks for him! He will do fine
Aw that's awesome!
