I ended up with both after 5 days of labor... fentenal took the edge off a LITTLE but with a sunny side up baby and back labor the epidural made my experience enjoyable! All I can say is trust your nursing staff and go in with a plan but also an open mind. Enjoy your labor, some can do it med free and that was my plan but labor is different for everyone and you are just as strong of a woman with or without it!
@kmharr3, that's exactly what i want to do. because of what i've heard about the epidural.
iv, they usually use fentanyl or something of that nature. it doesn't last very long from what I have heard but helps take the edge off. personally I didn't have any pain meds but I would choose the Iv over the epidural since I feel there is alot more side effects and negatives with the epidural
I plan to decline the IV pain meds bc they were useless in my opinion, and why have it when it's just another medication for baby to adjust to? I am holding out for the epidural.
