My son doesn't feed himself with a spoon but he eats solids with his hands. Cut everything small enough for him to him it back and forth. (I cook my bacon crispy. Then break it in pieces the size of corn. It pretty much melts in his mouth.)

He eats about a 1/4-1/3 cups of food at time.

Scrambled eggs and French toast (I don't use syrup for my baby).

Ham and cheese omelette.

Graham crackers and fruit are a hit around here.

Anything I eat my son eats. (Without allergy issues)

They're gonna make a mess. Probably huge. They are learning all the new textures and tastes.

With utensils or with fingers? I started finger foods at 9 months. He's 14 months now and eats with forks and spoons. I started off with stuff that I know would stick to the forks or spoons. Like mashed potatoes. He learned how to pick stuff up by watching us. He eats everything with utensils now and will not let me feed him either.

@brownsugarluv, @guaderrama_babies2, thank you!! I keep feeding him myself but he does know how to pick foods up but he's so picky on texture and gags on so much

@camdensmommy0114 oh that's normal. My son would gag on everything! I would just keep trying and he eventually got used to the texture. It's just new to them so they kinda freak out at first.
