Ladies with children in nursery or who work in a nursery please give you opinions! Me and Tom are going to put forward for a grant to open our OWN nursery in the new year.. I've been a nanny for 5 years worked in nurseries since I was 15 and now a mother myself who is sending a child to nursery which I LOVE however.. we have decided to open our own due to the lack of nurseries and costs of the majority of them we want to open with a difference please comment with what you would like in your child's setting if you could change or have anything... what do and don't you like... how much are YOU willing and able to spend each session/month or if your working in one what makes a good employer what kind of work place makes you feel like you love your job! Please don't hold back I want honest comments your going to help us in the long run 😘

@littleelf85, so would you like a for example at least one member of staff to be trained in BF and how to store it and someone you'd feel comfortable coming in the express if needed? X

Nurseries are really struggling now the government introduced free childcare for 30 hours inc to working parents from 3 years old. Because of the short fall this leaves nursery ( they only get a fraction of what it costs per child per hour) many are now left facing shortfalls or increasing fees. I pay 6 pounds per hour for my daughter but nursery only gets 3 pound something per hour for her free hours. The extras I pay for. The cost per hour is 5 pounds something to the nursery. More if the child has special needs etc. They are very good at keeping us informed of the actual costs to them and ways to stop increases, inc inviting parents to suggest ways to keep general fees down. But either way from sept many will shut or increase fees even higher forcing many to no longer afford this and seek child minders. It's a very rocky time to be opening a nursery. I'm told from people who work in nurseries it is no longer paying well for many as there are and will be more people entitled to double what they were without the financial cover from the government.
