A friend of mine has twins that were born at about 36 weeks. She said that they were always a little behind on development since they were preemies, but they started walking when they were about 10 1/2 months old. Now they're about 13 months old and are very good at walking. My son was born two days before his due date at 39 weeks and 5 days via planned c-section, but my doctor said it would've been a 42 week delivery. I'm bringing all of this up because my son will be 12 months old on the 21st and he has not even attempted walking independently yet. I know that all babies are different, but I figured since the twins were behind on development that I could at least expect him to be starting to walk by 10 months old.
What do y'all think? What are some things I can do to speed the process along? He will walk just fine if he's holding onto our hands.. He loves doing that, actually. It's just like he doesn't trust himself to let go.

my sils step daughter is a little over 1 year old and is the same way. She doesn't trust herself to walk without someone's hand. so I bought her a couple different walking toys and it helped her

Some babies just don't want to walk yet. Just let him tk his time, he will definitely surprise u when he do start walking in his own.

my daughter didn't walk by herself until 15 months. she didn't have a single tooth until 14 months. she didn't crawl until 9 months and didn't sit up unassisted until 7 and a half months. all babies do things when they want and when they are ready. I know it's hard but try not to judge your child by where other children are at with their milestones. it will drive you batty. I did it with my 1st because my sisters baby was 6 months older. he did everything soooo fast and it made me feel like she was slow. but no. she just had her own plans and that'd perfectly ok.

My nephew will be 1 on the 21st and he isn't walking yet either. Just crawling and standing up holding on to stuff

My son used his jumper and walker and it helped a lot with us. He was independently walking at 8 months old. Honestly I wish it didn't happen so soon because now he never sits still. Try a walker, that might help.

My son didn't walk until the week of his first birthday. I bought him some stride right walking shoes the month before and made him wear them everyday. Those may help!!
