A bit of friendly advice please! :) My sons 3 months old and he's formula fed. The past few weeks…

My little boy showed less interest in bottles at 3-3n half months old as he started teething. So I tried him on purred Heinz jars and he loved them. I spoke to my HV about it all too and she was happy for me to do so, he's now 6months old and on jars for 7months+ and had been since 5months old as my health visitor said he's a an hungrier baby 🙈 now loved his food! Xx

my lo is 12 weeks and is the same loosing interest in his bottles during the day so I've decided to start weaning him just a taste one spoonful so he can get the action of swallowing it. took him a few days just to swallow one tiny spoonful without spitting it out but he seems to be enjoying his banana porridge, everyone I know started at 3 months and my h.v just said when ever I feel he's ready I guess it's when ever you feel your baby is ready to start ☺

I started at around 11 weeks with baby rice then went onto the jars xx

@lynette26, @charlotteandharry, @abbiiqx, thanks so much girls! I have my HV coming out next week so I'll speak to her then about it but he is teething as well and it's giving him a lot of bother. Maybe slow weaning will be the best option but I'll let my HV have her input. It's very textbook these days though so I hope she can point me in the direction that's best for him, not just what the guidelines say. xx

Health visitor told me point blank wait until 6 months so I argued a toss telling her he's my child, I know his feeding habits and to stop reading out of a book 🙄🙊 like I'd say to any parent don't go by what anyone else does or says, do what you think is best! xxx

I have just started weaning Evelyn because she just doesn't seem interested in her milk either. just on some baby rice and porridge etc. doctor advised that because she sleeps poorly a bit of food might help. she definitely seems happier and less hungry so I say go with gut instinct. your his mother and know best!

Max went off his milk for a while. I was shocked as he was always a hungry baby as a newborn. I was adamant I wasn't weaning him that young (my personal feelings). He was teething so I think that didn't help. But as his weight was fine & he was happy & didnt feel the need to start him on food. He did get his appetite back & started drinking normal feeds after a few weeks. He's 5months next week & I've started him on pureed vegetables & baby porridge as he can sit up better I feel ok to give him food 😊👍

@sara-lou, that's good to know that maybe it's a faze, I'm taking him to the doctors tomorrow so I'll mention it then. I'd like him to be a bit older before weaning but if he's unwell it's something I'll have to consider :) xx

Yeh that's why I've now decided to start weaning with Max. He was ill for nearly 2weeks & has lost weight where he wasn't feeding & being sick. Now he's better he's got his appetite back & milk isn't cutting it now lol.

@cantelopue have u got the faster flowing teats? hv told me to try that first.

i have also been giving Hettie pureed jars since 12 weeks however and she is fine x

yeah id start weaning then you know best for your child. hettie just went off bottles, she has one on a morn after bit of porrige then through day she has pureed fruit and bottle and then night time a bottle but small one with rice x
