Moms,
It's time for today's chat 🎉🎉
We're so excited to have Dr.Christi in the app today. Please follow her in the app as @drchristihibbert . We'll talk about mom shaming, self-esteem, motherhood, being happy and more, and we have two books of hers to giveaway today, This is How We Grow, which is Dr. Christi's memoir. For today's chat, we'll post on about four or five admin posts. Please tap the three dots on the top right of our posts to add each to your bookmarks. Then you'll be notified of any activity. And please ask questions and we'll try to have Dr. Christi answer them at the end.
Let's start with this wonderful passage on her website: www.DrChristinaHibbert.com.
"“First and foremost, I’m a wife and mother.”
I mostly consider myself and wife and stay-at home mom. Or maybe it’s more correct to say a “work-at-home mom,” since I write, produce videos, and even see a few online clients from my home office while my kids are in school (Aren’t we ALL work at home moms, in one way or another?). My husband, OJ, and I have been married over 20 years, and we have 6 energetic children, ages 19-8! This keeps us busier than we can always manage, but I wouldn’t trade my “job” as a mom and wife for anything in the world. As I like to say, “I love every moment of being a mother. I even love the moments I don’t love!”"

Q1 Please tell us how you became a pychologist and an author of 3 books and a weekly radio show called Motherhood.
Christi Hibbert·
A1 I went to graduate school to become a psychologist when I had two kids, ages 3 and 5 months. My husband was also in dental school, so it was a crazy time. We helped each other through and my sister also lived with us to help with the kids. I had my third baby one week after I graduated! I took a year off, then spent a year getting licensed before I was finally a legit "clinical psychologist." I always wanted to write a book, but it wasn't until I went through the loss of my sister and her husband that I finally did it. We inherited our two nephews right before I gave birth to our fourth, and went from 3 to 6 kids just like that. I thought my professional life was over, but really that was the impetous for writing my first book, "This is How We Grow. Through writing and publishing that book (a 4 year process), I was offered contracts for my second and third books. The publishers found me through my blog and asked if I'd like to write for them. Of course, I said, "Yes!" Also through my website came the opportunity to start my radio show, "Motherhood". I started doing it with WebTalkRadio, but last summer I went out on my own. Now I post new episodes each Monday through SoundCloud, iTunes, Stitcher, and my website, as well as the videos for "Motherhood TV" on my newest website, www.motherhoodtv.com!

@drchristihibbert, Q2 Why the focus on women’s mental health, motherhood, parenting, pregnancy/postpartum, self-esteem/self-worth, and personal growth?
Christi Hibbert·
A2 These are all things I've personally struggled with, and I like working with clients who are going through similar things. I feel I can relate better and I have greater compassion in these areas, as well as in the area of grief/loss, since I've been through alot of that, too. I may have a doctorate in psychology, but as I say in "This is How We Grow," I've also earned my "Doctor of LIfe" degree, and that is where my true expertise shines through!
