My dog just growled at my son 😖 oh no

I'd definitely be getting rid of the dog a animal isn't more important then a human

There are classes. Ik we had a dog and she snapped one time st my son but she was sick and my son slapped her. Now he knows better and we made a space for her to sleep ( only time she snaps is when she is asleep and you wake her up) and all is good and my son can't get to her when she is sleeping. But I have had a dog that would go out of his way to attack my niece and nephew when they came over. I locked him up and he died shortly after. But if he wasn't old we would have gotten rid of him to where no kids would be around him. So you will have to decide if it's an easy fix or one that you can't fix without the possibility of your son getting hurt. I wish you luck and hope everyone is safe the dog and your son :)

Well I think it's jealousy or fear. Idk which one. If you put the baby around him or try to touch the baby's hand to pet him he runs away. But just this morning I had my hand on top of the baby's hand and we were petting him and he turned his head towards the baby and growled. It upset me bc my dog is the most relaxed dog. He is a nervous dog but this behavior has never happened before. @amberjacq @jessyleigh

It's a little fear. With jealousy. Fear because it's new to him and jealousy because you use to spend your days cuddling with him and now he has to share. I have to give me dog my nights. The minute I put my son to bed my soggy knows it's her tomurb to cuddle and cuddles with me from 8 pm -6 am and won't leave my side. When my son was first born I had to cuddle with her on his naps to know I still love her. It got better when we added a dog to the mix and she could play with them and didn't notice how all my attention was on baby when he was awake. And now my son is one and I have him give her treats three times a day and now she loves him! She is starting to let him pet her. Will give him kisses and it's great.

Ya I understand! Sometimes dogs just don't like baby's or toddlers because they don't quiet know how to act with dogs. So keep your son safe and I'm sure your dog will find a great home that will love him just like you do!

Does she have an area to go that she can get away from the kid? If my son is being too much for my dog she can go to her safe spot and her bed . She's really good about walking away so far

Yea he does. And he usually does walk away if he feels uncomfortable but this time he just looked him right in the eye and growled @mamahoude

The best you can do is not force it, you are actually stressing your dog out more by doing the petting. If you notice tail wagging or a tucked tail, ears pinned to head, rolling over, or bugging eyes, that is your dog saying please go away. No dog wants to bite, but if the other forms of communication arent working, biting is next. Its how they teach their puppies, dogs dont speak human, but humans can learn dog.

this is my personal experience my old dog done that and actually bit my cousin in the face when she went to pet her and it scared me to death cause my cousin was only 1 and I grabbed my baby cousin up and yelled for my mom and I was trying to stop the bleeding and my mom grabbed our dog and locked her in her bedroom and I had got a wash cloth washing away the blood to see how bad her bite mark was and it was deep but not so deep that she needed stitches I was 14 at the time and my little cousin was like my daughter cause we had her so much she even called me mom sometimes and called my mom mamaw and still does call my mom mamaw so I was very scared when that happen and I just held her and went to the car with her and held her while in the car holding a dry wash cloth to her face praying that the bleeding would clot and it did thankfully and the doctor said to butterfly it together with a butterfly bandage and we did and she would touch it and it would fall off so we got hello kitty bandaids and covered the butterfly bandage and it healed up good and didn't get infected or anything cause I cleaned it everyday and took very good care of her so that's why I say a dogs life isn't more important then a humans life I'd rather get rid of a dog then have to worry about my child's safety

I'm just going to avoid contact between my son and the dog for now @klp16 and that sounds awful. I'm glad your cousins was ok. I don't want that to happen to my son. I completely agree with you. If my puppy has to go then I will find a good home for him @amberjacq

@adrianliam, it was very scary after we brought her back home and I layed her down for a nap I curled up and cried it was awful but hopefully that won't happen to your baby and hopefully your dog won't get aggressive cause that was the most scariest thing I've ever been through in my life so far

I'm hoping he just needs a little time getting used to the baby that's all @amberjacq

@adrianliam, I hope so too cause it's a big adjustment especially for animals cause they are used to being center of attention

We have a German Shepard and a Siberian husky and they adore my son. But they also know we have boundaries. No licking in the face. Not coming to close to him when he's on the floor playing. But our husky sits next to him and watches him. He's done that since e brought him home. My husky sleeps next to his crib at night and won't move until morning when he wakes up. We haven't had a bad experience yet. But our dogs would be gone if they pulled something. They know better.

My dog watches him too when we put him in the floor. That's why I was surprised when he growled bc he doesn't especially like to be touched by my son but he's never showed anger towards him @landonsmommy01
