I posted the other day about Harrison screaming in pain and I didn't know why. He was a lot better yesterday but it came and went. Today was the worst I've seen him and my partners mum said it's teething as her children were the same at this age but didn't cut a tooth till they were 6 months. One minute he's fine and smiley the next he's screaming hysterically and won't take his bottle because he keeps chewing it. He has a doctors appointment next week anyway so I'll ask then to make sure but has anyone else's babies been really bad when teething? What can I do to help? Teething gel only lasts a few minutes and he spits the teething rings out. Only thing that helped the other day was calpol but am I okay to give it to him when he's really bad? He's 3 months on Thursday and I don't like giving him medicines unless he really needs it.

Ambesol saved my sanity with my 4. Put it on when needed but before bottles works really well

They can have calpol from 3months but I wouldn't personally use that regularly for teething as if given too often they'll build an immunity to it for when you actually need it for high Temps etc. I have given it in rare occasions where they've developed a slight high temp/red cheeks & are inconsolable due to teething. Otherwise I use the gels & teething granules.

@mummyoffour, thanks I'll definitely try it. @sara-lou that's what I was thinking but he has been inconsolable to the point where he was chocking himself from screaming so much it's so hard to watch! 😢

If he's really upset & in pain then I'd maybe try a dose before bed to help him sleep and try other methods during the day. Unless nights times ok, then calpol in the day. I'd never thought to give it until I took Morgan to the docs once because one side of his face had slightly swollen & they said it was teething! Amazing what they go through bless them.

At the moment he hasn't been bad at night it's more the afternoon and evening. He's having a nap at the moment but if he gets really bad I'll be giving him a dose of calpol. Thanks for your help 😊 @sara-lou @charliebrown89 xx
