Okay, I need opinions please! We got a 5 month old puppy about a month ago. She was not potty trained but we had her to the point to wear she was basically potty trained. She wouldn't go potty in her cage at night and would go when I let her outside every 1-2 hours. Well, a couple days ago she started pooping in her cage. No matter how many times she was let out, she'd poop in her cage! It made no sense. Idk what to do at this point. I don't know whether to find a new home for her or keep her and work with her. My babies could be here in less than a month and I'm so so worried about them being in an unsanitary environment or her being so hyper that she'll jump on them and hurt them. My husbands 3 year old daughter LOVES this puppy and I don't wanna be the bad guy if we have to get rid of her but I'm trying to put my babies first and look out for my best interest since it's probably not good for me to be around feces on a daily basis. :/

My dog will do that on occasion when he thinks I'm not looking. He goes in there because he knows it's his safe spot but he also knows he isn't suppose to go in the house so it's like he thinks I can't see him.
You either need to get a smaller crate or absolutely do not come back in until she poops outside, and then lots of treats and praise. I had to downsize crates.

I think you should keep her and work with her. It will be no easy task though. Is it cold where you live? I find that my cats start pooping inside EVERY Winter. They are trained to go outside and every time it starts getting cold they start going inside the house again 😔 like clockwork. I still have found no solution and even when I get a litter box during the Winter, they still do it.

We downsized our crates when they did that because they won't lay in it usually so that made a huge difference!

Work with her, she's really young still. Make sure the crate isn't too big and put a blanket on the bottom. It's not going to harm the baby if the puppy poops in her crate

it's a responsibility, keep training the pup until it understands!
