I need ideas of what food I can make on a stove top only that are cheap and affordable for our Christmas eve family party it was my husband and mother in law who planned on having this event but somehow I got dragged into it after my mother in law told him she was making the food just needs a bigger house to host it in we bought all the gifts for everyone but yet she insists we make the food to after she begged to use our house instead of hers ugh need help please

@malmal20 not to many ladies mentioned cheap things and I know u said u wanted something easy and cheap I would cook a pot of beans and a pot of rice super cheap then buy toastados and let them serve theirselves u could buy lettuce tomato onion cheese sour cream jalapeños if u wanna do more make queso and guacamole with chips u could even add belpeppers as well that's all easy and cheap no meat and those veggie r affordable and easy and bean rice go long ways with lots of people. I have tons of example of that in my old post if u wanna look we have them all the time. My second option would be do beans cornbread and big pot of cabbage also super cheap

Ya I'm kinda going to force her to do more than what she is wanting to I know it sounds mean but she literally begged to use our house and said she was going to make all the food so it should be hers to handle because I am the one who paid for all the Christmas gifts this year that was my part of this whole thing because she didn't buy anything for anyone but herself and bf when she has babies in her house also because she let my sister in law run around like a banshee when she was still very very young she has also kicked her and the babies out on the street for two weeks I currently here them here with me only because she don't want to do anything but run around buying different gifts for herself so idk I'm kinda disappointed

If she's making lasagna I would do a nice plate of bread, roasted peppers, caprese salad (fresh mozzarella tomato and basil), cubes of cheese and crackers for an appetizer, then you can have lasagna with a green vegetable and regular salad for sides, and a nice dessert assortment you can do a fruit plate, cookie plate, and some donuts or cake with coffee. I'm super Italian so I tried to think of what other people eat Bc Xmas eve is huge for traditional Italians but hope that helped you mama

my mother in law doesn't make a traditional meal she usually makes lasagna every time so I know green beans and deviled eggs and rolls will go good with it but that isn't enough to feed everyone
