Mommies of toddlers: How do you deal with major tantrums in public?

depending on age. I tell them no more cartoons, they will sit when they get home and no snack. my almost 2 year old I have to tell him to stop or I call daddy. then I put him in the cart with the buckle. or with my 3 year old I put him in the cart

it depends how bad. My sons were never horrible but honestly I just ignore him. It works for my son. if I jus keep walking or whatever he will follow n eventually calm down

@nwhite0823, @allyk.xmommy We were in Walmart yesterday and my daughter didn't want to hold my hand while walking so the high pitch scream came then she started screaming bloody murder! What made it even worse was she was screaming for her dad (which was right there) What makes it even worse is I'm in an interracial relationship so she's of course multiracial and people already judge but everyone was staring at me like I was the terrible person as if I beat on her. especially since she was screaming "daddy" and even started screaming "daddy help!" Like wtf do I do? I have tried being calm..even a pop on the hand. but when people assume that you're an aggressive person it makes it hard. Then the one and only time in the world her father decided to ACT calm and attentive when he normally just yells at her. it made me look even worse!!

@jenny73, it can get pretty bad. it's only horrible when me and her dad are together I've noticed. the last major one I had to put her in the cart, pin her down because she was trying to throw herself out and Rush out of the store.

Depends on the age. I tell my 2 year old to be quiet because he monster is going to hear him

the fact that he didn't do anything at all while rite there is ridiculous. I would have picked her up and let her continue to scream without saying a thing.

Is she scared of anything? Maybe you should try that. I know it sounds mean lol but it helps

@allyk.xmommy, he was extremely calm and soft spoken..he didn't pick her up until we got near more people. it was like he was trying to seem like parent of the year-end he waited until I was drained and stressed and got an attitude with me for being frustrated.

@allyk.xmommy, Mind you, he's NEVER been that calm with her ever!!..it felt like he got a personal satisfaction out of making me look like shit honestly. he shoos her away ALL day at home and gets so frustrated with her if she just wants his attention. I interact with my daughter from sun up to sun down..he doesn't. I've had to beg and stress him to do so

@allyk.xmommy, He claims he lets me handle it since I have a problem with him being aggressive towards her. but it's like..You can help stop it without being aggressive to start with.

I know this isn't the answer for everything, but I only acted up once in a store with my mom growing & she pinched the crap outta me never did that again. Then with my god daughter I just gotta give her the two finger spanking ... with my little one I'll see what works for her when she gets here

I will look at someone quick and say what you never seen a child not get what she want. Well here's one! I pre warn my kids before I got in the store but none of my kids never did it. My mom said I us to do it. Daddy must had her spoiled @mommyof2boogies
