girls I am close to give birth I am 39 weeks and my due date is on 7th December. So I am planning on having epidural for pain relief. But I would like to hear ur comments on Epidural from the girls that already been through it. 😊xx
I didn't have any pain relief at all . Id see how you go with the pain you might surprise yourself and just want something small like gas and air x
@myfirstbaby2016 Hmm I would go in open minded though hun :) you may surprise yourself.
.dont let horror stories scare you into having one either :) but totally your choice of course.....But I honestly didnt need it.(obviously wasnt my choice in the end) next time...I will not be choosing it xx
I had an epidural with my daughter and had back problems ever since. had to have cortisone injections in my back, physio, lots of medication and nothing works. hoping to have an operation after iv had the baby. I'm getting induced again this time, and I will most certainly not be having an epidural again. but I'm hoping to have a c-section because of my back problems, and they use an epidural for c-section, or a spinal block and I'll be having the spinal block this time, as after alot of information, spinal blocks are meant to be better as it wears off alot quicker than an epidural. but if I don't get the c-section I want, then I'll go natural without an epidural. I was in labour for 3 days with my daughter, and was in agony so had to have the epidural at the time. but everyone is different. a couple of my friends have had epidurals and they have been fine. let's hope you get a good doctor and can do it properly, mine certainly wasn't done right x @myfirstbaby2016
Yeh everything has risks you just gotta weigh up your options & what's best for the situation at the time. My back plays up now & then. Not sure if that's anything to do with the epidural or not though.
just go with the flow I say :) you may end up not even needing or wanting one xxx
@sara-lou, yea I know I just wanted to hear from girls what sides effects did they got from it and if it did helped them during labour. so I got my answers still will go for it thoe just need to accept the afterwards effects if it comes to it. some girl told me her friend went paralysed afterwards as it went wrong but that's definitely one in a billion case. 😮😕 x
@sara87, yea I am still going to have one done my mum done epidural with my little sister she told me that is very good so she told me to go for it and my sister in law told me to go for it as well so I decided to go for it so I am accepting the side affects. 😐 x
@unimummy, yea ur friend case is 1 in a billion 😦 sorry to hear that thoe. my auntie had epidural Nd they pop something in her spine then they had to put something in there to stock it up and they told her she was one I a hundred 😕 x
when i had it yes i did suffee from back pains n other pain was horrendous i was crying everyday cuz it was so hard to look Maryam 😓 but after may be 3 weeks everything went bk to normal since then i dnt really have back pain alot tbh x
@sara87, but they say after birth u will have a back pain for a little while anyways cos everything going back to places 😊 x
My mate had an epidural and it went wrong . She is now paralysed from the waist down . I'd never personally get one after what happened to her . But I think she is a very rare case !
I had to have an emergency c-section when I had Zac but when they attempted to give me a spinal block my spine rejected it so they gave me an epidural which my spine also rejected! I have an odd back lol xx
@lauren1996 Mine was a spinal block :) I had to stay in bed longer as had a balloon In my womb draining blood as well as a catheter... I lost 3 litres of blood...Also had 3 cannulas in one arm...2 in the other.... was connected to blood transfusions.....Iv drips etc xxx
@winterbaby95, I only had the half epidural I think as I was walking like two hours after delivery, xx
I needed one for a forcep delivery and possible csection if the forceps didnt work...as my girls head was stuck :) I couldn't feel my legs or anything for about 24 hours...thats the down side of it 😓 but got me up and walking as soon as it had worn off xxx Felt weird In labour...as couldn't feel myself pushing.....So was a surprise when doc shouts..we have a baby...next thing you know..she is placed on my belly :) was amazing! xxx
I had epidural, I was only in full flown labour for 5 hours I was told I needed one as baby was getting g stressed it was either that or I could've had to have emergency c section also having preclampsia @myfirstbaby2016 xx
Gosh ok I'm so tied because I didn't have one with my first. I managed a TENS machine then gas & air. But I had to have an epidural AFTER giving birth for them to do corrective surgery & I hated having to stay in bed for the few hours after. So I was adamant I wouldn't have one with Max. Anyways cut to being in labour 23hrs I asked for one haha. It really did help calm me as I was getting worked up because Max was getting distressed. All I can say is read up on all your options & be open to them all 😊
Also it really slows down the labour I ended up in labour for 26 hours 🙈
Mine worked for around an hour then only one side for another 30 minutes then it wore off I had a terrible back for years after and ended up paying privately for physio so I would never have one again personally xx
since epidural i suffered back pains but then after few weeks after bith it all settled
everyone reacts different hun so dont over worry ur self... its now 13 weeks since iv had my daughter im fine no back pain nothing im even going to the gym feel all normal so just look forward to it x@myfirstbaby2016
