Would dcyf take away a baby if they find weed in mothers system while pregnant? (THIS ISNT ABOUT ME)

They could, yes. Depends upon state, doctor, past history etc. If they don't they will probably open a case against you and look into it.

not necessarily but they could. my daughter tested positive for thc when she was born (long story) but no they did not take her from me. they will do an investigation. its really not worth all the b.s just stay clean. your child comes first.

yeah thanku. it isnt about me just the other girl baby daddy got pregnant. I dont wanna see it happen but she smokes weed while pregnant and is almost 17. idk if that relevant or not tho. @jacesterlingsmommy

Age probably won't matter but for all I know they may see her as a young person who isn't able to care for a baby and has different priorities. The best thing is go get clean asap or at least before baby is born because more than likely they'll test in hospital when baby is born. Either your urine or blood and/or baby's urine or meconium. Depending upon the OB they may already be testing at prenatal appointments and I think they're obligated to turn it over to cps and make you take tests monthly and even after baby is born. It all happened to a friend of mine.

its such a controversial subject. i know people who have smoked their whole pregnancy and have not gotten anything from dcf but the majority will have a case opened. hopefully she smartens up and quits

Yes and no. Depending on the state itself where marijuana is legal medically or recreationally. I know some OBs do routine drug test and will notify you if you're positive and then they will test again closer to due date and if negative they don't say anything, if positive they might have baby tested after birth. Also if baby is showing signs of withdraw they may automatically test baby to see if anything is in babies system. For me I was upfront with my OB and notified her of me using marijuana. I had no problems at all and idk if my child was tested but I never got any visits from cps or anything.
