Anyone else's child develop a rash while taking amoxicillin?? He developed the rash last night and the left picture is this morning, the right is now. Hes in day 8 of amoxicillin but I'm not giving him anymore. He's not running fever and not scratching at it but it looks so much worse! 😭 I was advised to give him Zyrtec (1/2 of the lowest dosage) so I am hoping that stops it! I'm scared to go to sleep with him, I just want to watch it and make sure nothing happens. Ugh why would they even give amoxicillin to infants when this apparently happens pretty often! My poor angel can't catch a break 😥😥

@babyjjsmommy, did you call a doc? That looks pretty bad! Even if it is an allergy! Poor guy!!! Good luck!!!

If it was me, ide take him to the ER just bcuz it's gotten worse. That looks pretty bad. Poor baby!!

yes...stop the meds! Most likely he will have an allergy to all antibiotics in that family like penicillin too. My 5yr old is allergic and we have to be very careful.

Take him to we stop the meds asap. That's exactly what it looked like for my son when we found out he's allergic to it. Bring him because it takes a couple rounds to see a reaction so the rash could get worse and result to swelling and closing the throat

I don't know who to call at this time of night 😕😕My family (even my grandmother an RN) don't seem very worried and that it's just a reaction to it. But I am worried even thought it's supposedly "common" I may make a trip to the ER. Like I said he acts like nothing is wrong, and all the info we have read says it's just a macula papular rash, and not to worry just to stop the antibiotics and give over the counter antihistamine. Y'all are making me feel like I'm right and should be worried 😥 ughh idk what to do! I don't want to take him to the ER and risk him getting sick again from catching germs there but I don't want this to be more serious than everyone is making it out to be either and not do anything. I gave him the Zyrtec, I am about to give him a bath and just watch him for awhile. I'm trying to watch and see if he is itching at it because that is a sign of hives and if that's the case we will be going to the ER! @heera @arivera64 @hiswifetheirmama @purpledpink

Also a penicillin reaction does not itch!! That was one of the things the doctor said which is very important to note because that's one reason how they know it's a reaction to penicillin

Ide call the ER and talk to triage or someone there and they will be able to tell you what to do or what will help more. I really hope he gets well soon!! 💖💕💕💖

That's what they did for my son. Had me give benadryl and stop the meds. However, i don't want to tell you to do the same thing i did because every child is not the same. The pediatric office should have an on call doctor that you can speak to.

yes. this happened to my son just recently he's allergic amoxicillin
