I'm about to have my third baby. My two are 9yrs and 6yrs. Back then, skin-to-skin wasn't encouraged or talked about (after birth). I plan to exclusively breastfeed. Can someone explain the skin-to-skin experience (just after delivery) and include the benefits as well??

It's a great bonding experience. A baby's first latch within the first hour and their closeness helps your milk. I sadly wasn't able to get to hold my son for an hour after but once we was on me he no longer cried.

this is my first baby but my Dr. explained to me about it and it is when they put the baby on your chest to help you and the baby bond more better.

My babies were in nicu so skin to skin actually helps them heal and feel comforted.

once my baby came out they put her directly on my chest. rubbed her off on my chest. they never took her away from me to do measurements or anything like that for literally hours after I had her. they had her nurse like within 15 minutes of being born. it's so great girl you will love it!

My hospital went over everything with me before hand. They asked me what I wanted so that they would do it properly. Still no baby yet but they did put it on a white board that I wanted the baby immediately and that he would be circumcised and all of that.
