What about just taking him in the stroller but without the infant car seat attached just like in the bigger kid part with his snowsuit and stuff some blankets around to help him sit up! I know your guy is younger than mine but you might be able to make that work???

I'd invest in a JJ Cole Bundle Me. Car seats are not meant to have snowsuit layers bc it compromises the safety of the child. Layers in between the child and the straps cause a cushion of movement and in an accident, that little movement means life or death.

@tlistboom, @sarah433 I have the JJ Cole Bundle and I love it but ensure to dress baby warm regardless... I don't find its warm enough but great for wind and rain etc... How come your unable to adjust car seat straps?

I'm not sure why I can't adjust them. they just won't go any bigger. I don't put him in the car with a snow suit, but I take the bus, and I have to walk to my son's school before that. I need him to be strapped in a car seat and in a snow suit to keep him warm. I thought about putting him in just the stroller, but it's so light he gets bounced around alot lol not sure what other mothers do. @brynsmommie @starting_over39 @tlistboom

⬆ yes that! You bundle them accordingly under a BundleMe product. They don't make the straps on car seats THAT adjustable bc it compromises the safety of the seat .. also parents who don't follow the safety rules would bend them and use snowsuits when they shouldn't. I sell carseats .. I know this is frustrating but use that clever momma brain and you'll come up with ways to help your lil one stay warm. Plus also remember, if you use a rain shield as well, heat gets trapped inside and they are actually warmer than you think.

What about putting him in a baby carrier. That way he can go in his snow suit and you can wrap a blanket around him still to cover his head/face/ body from the wind and cold ?

@ev14, my car seat you can adjust the straps and if those snow suits thinner thick shouldnt be used with infants why do they still sell them.. I ask officer if it's illegal and Babies R Us employee if it's illegal. they said it's not illegal but not preferred unless the straps are adjusted accordingly. Personally I would put infant in thick sweater and swaddle from waste down and hat. Then apply thicker blanket evenly on top not swaddled along with car seat cover. That's how I left hospital and nursed said ok because I purchased a lighter suit from Carter's and she said no for us to leave hospital. that was my first time hearing that. My eldest is 18 and daughter 12 never had an issue before. Always changing stuff like put baby to sleep flat on back.. some BS.. So my child could choke🤔 sleep on left side with son when had daughter 6 yrs later was told it's the right then this year it's left again 🤔 yup BS, my opinion no offense to others who follow books etc.. I go with my intuition instincts common sense and listen to the guidance given.. take some and leave some 😋.. Call or go into local police station and ask for clarity and recommendations as well too. Sent hubby when he installed car seat to ensure it was up to par.

I sell car seats and related products, have attended seminars and hosted them .. it's not illegal .. but it is common sense. A seat belt works best against a body. Use your instincts is correct. Rules change once studies are done to see what is safest for babies in today's society. The world is changing at a fast rate and what worked in the past doesn't mean it works now. Definitely use your mama brain and do what works for you and lil one.

and to answer the question "why do they sell them" .. 1. for babies who are taken outside to play in winter. 2. to make money (just like why do they make/sell cigarettes).

I want to know why they sell newborn ones because logically we all know the can't play outside at 1-3 months at least.. I know I am not taking my newborn sledding or subjected her to cold weather unless I have too.. I know time is evolving an things change after studies have been done but some are ridiculous like how long to get it right.. It's a newborn an infant that cannot make choices for themselves and cigarettes are a choice to buy a pack or not. Same thing for cars the speed limit is 100 mostly but cars can go way faster than that but we have choice. We choose for our children so why not make it illegal than be flip floppy. Like I said earlier just use mommy common sense cause no matter what studies show I ain't putting my newborn to lay flat in her back and if I use a snowsuit or light fleece one I will go to police station and have them check the restraints.much easier that way, go straight to the source

I'm sure a fleece one would be fine. unfortunately that's even too thick for my son to fit in his car seat. I understand the not putting puffy snow suit on because the child can fly out on impact. it was the same rule with my five year old. buy they make the car seat fit in the stroller so clearly it is ment to be outside aswell, so it should adjust to go over a snow suit. I simply can't afford to go buy a car seat cover, and I'm just saying I think it's nuts I can barley fit my 12 pound baby in his car seat. @starting_over39 you're right mom's should be able to be trusted to make the right choice for their child

@sarah433, I understand exactly.. the car seat cover was marked down at Babies R Us the other day not in flyer so I think it's staying like that 34$ or 39$ I paid for mine like two weeks ago.
