Ok ladies. Im gonna be seeing my doctor about birth control soon. (If you dont believe in birth control thats fine. Please don't be disrespectful to me for using it.) Currently my fiance and I have kind of chosen 3 options that my insurance covers. The nexplanon implant, the mirena IUD, and the birth control patch. What are your experiences with these if youve used them? Im also very skeptical about the patch, so if you used that one, did it work? The packet i got on it said it only works 91 percent lf the time. Ive also heard they fall off in the shower if you arent super careful. Thanks in advance guys. And info on any of these is really appreciated. Oh! Also, moms who got their tubes tied. Did you regret it? How hard is the surgery and recovery? We wont do this unless we are 100 percent sure we dont want another kiddo, but im still curious about it.

I know lots of people who got pregnant on the patch. so I personally would never use it or recommend it. I used the implant worked well but made me gain a lot of weight. when I got off it I lost 10 lbs like a snap of a finger

Thanks. I definitely wont be using the patch then. And the packet for the implant didnt list weight gain but thanks for letting me know. How much weight did it make you gain? If you dont mind telling me. Its totally fine if you dont im just curious @reyesmomma

nexplanon is over 99% effective. I believe it's a .4% possibility of you getting pregnant while on it and they replace or can just remove it every 3yrs. I've only had mine in for a couple weeks but my sister has had hers for almost 2 months and spotted for about 2 wks and hasn't had anything since. I'm in that process right now. I barely use a tampon a day.

@rari, I'm on the Nexplanon now... And I hate it. I get it taken out next year. I've gained weight & I don't have a period which doesn't help... And if I do have one I never know when it's coming on. It sucks. I've been on the patch & it did me just fine... No weight gain or nothing

I'm on nexplanon for about 7 months now. I love it! I came off the mini pill which made me bleed all month long for 5 months. I never gain on birth control. I never worry about it.

Thanks for letting me know! We were afraid the pill would cause issues with my period because theyve always been irregular and heavy so my doctor advised against that one. Im hoping i dont gain on birth control since i have a good metabolism but it wont be the end of the world if i gain a little extra weight lol. @bonniesue

I'd go mirena all the way! I have it and I love it! mirena is good for 5years over 99% as well. you can get it taken out whenever you want and you can get pregnant that day. I haven't heard of anyone getting pregnant on unless it came out. and it works best for women who have already had children women who haven't had kids and use it as a birth control are more likely that mirena to come out. I've been on it more than a year my sister has had it for more 10years still no baby I know another lady she's got it too and she's had it for almost five years no baby. my obgyn is the one that said it would best for me. I have had two periods in a year and it was spotting not really a period. so I really like it! I like the mirena because it doesn't affect my ability to reproduce. some birth controls such has the depo and patch even the pill I was on before I got pregnant over time can affect that from what I've been told. those have this ingredient in it that helps prevent you from getting pregnant I can't think of the name but anyways yeah it affects your ability to get pregnant again
