I've heard it's good for their immune system to go to places like Walmart or the mall with you around 2 months. It builds it up.

@princessmama, that's what I've heard! I've heard some mommas say they took one of their kids out sooner than they brought another one of their children out and they either have a better or worse immune system

It also depends on if you vaccinate too. One of my friends is non vaccinated and she took her baby out at 2 months. She was fine. Another of my friends however who was vaccinated took their boy out at like 5 weeks and he got pertussis! Vaccinated babies can't be out until they receive their shots because it causes their immune system to depend on the vaccine.

I think 8 weeks is the final round of shots for babies to be out an about. I just asked my friend who I was talking about.

Hmmm... @princessmama I really do not know what vaccination has to do with when you take your baby out... Are babies that are going to be vaccinated born somehow special that they cannot leave their nests? what about taking them to the doc for the shots where there are germs galore? @sawyersmomma, it is recommended to have less direct exposure, i.e. people touching and getting in baby's face, till about 6-8 weeks. However, a trip to a store while you have the baby in a car seat with a cover over them is just fine. Have you had family and friends over at the hospital and to visit you? That's plenty of exposure in its own. Then how is taking your baby somewhere going to hurt them?

No not special. What Im saying is that a baby who starts receiving vaccines are less safe to be exposed until the vaccines are completed with the last dosage. That all:) @concrete

@concrete, @ellieinmybelly I did and still have alot of company coming to see us, also he is going to be going to two rather crowded family dinners on Thursday, which I am considering putting him in my carrier and packing him around lol

I took my son out at like a week old. He's never gotten sick and he's about to be 4 months

my little is 8 days old and I've brought her to the store with me because my SO is back to work, she stayed in her seat unless i needed to change her diaper.

5 days old I started taking out my oldest. My youngest 3 days tbh.

@princessmama, the only vaccine that has more than 1 dose at that age is HepB. The last dose is received at 6 months. Does this mean keeping the baby away till 6 months? Hep B is transmitted through blood. I am not sure how going to a store makes you more susceptible. I am sure unvaccinated babies are as susceptible to airborne diseases as the vaccinated ones.

@sawyersmomma, I would just make sure he is not passed around. otherwise, it is probably good for him to be in new surroundings.

I brought my son out in public when he was a day old . I had his baby shower planned and it was to late to cancel and there was to much to do for me not to bring him with😏 & he hasn't gotten sick one bit😊

I was in Walmart with my daughter the day we got released from the hospital. She was in her car seat and had the canopy cover on it. Only reason I was in there is because I had to buy preemie clothes bc I didn't have any at home.

My baby girl was out and about at 4 days old. She's 2 months now and has been to: church, both grandparents houses, my work, my husbands work, the corn maze, baby showers, the lake, Walmart, the mall, and most recently North Carolina.
