I'm doing the process now too depending on your credit you can put 3.7% of what the house cost which is less than 10000 for a 250000 more like 4000 or you can put the 10% to 20% down I would start looking around they have fha loans or go thru your bank or get your credit report and talk with someone to see where you stand

First see how much you qualify for. So go to a bank (Wells Fargo is awesome) and do that first. That can take a couple weeks to figure out then they will tell you what to do

Yeah I would try who you Bank with and see how much you would qualify for so you know what houses you can look at cause closing on a house can be quick or can be a process

Find a bank or mortgage company and see if you qualify for a loan, and get pre approved for that much, once you have the amount that you are pre approved for you can take the printed paper that the bank/mortgage company gives you to a realtor and then start house searching, the realtor will walk you through every thing else.

We got prequalified on a Friday, and by that next Tuesday had found a house, signed an offer contract on Wednesday and we are in the 30 day waiting process to close now, we close November 29th. It was a fast process for us once we filled out the crap ton of paper work the mortgage company needs
