I found these very helpful tips to treat Diaper rashes on 📌 Free App. Because I know diaper rashes are never fun & down right painful but sometimes they can be inevitable-no matter if you are a cloth diapering family or use disposables. However, one benefit to going cloth is the reduced amount of rashes! If your little one tends to be prone to getting diaper rashes, we have a few solutions for you to try.

Here are 7 tried & true home remedies for healing a diaper rash at home:

Baking Soda Bath Soak

Add 2 tbsp. of baking soda to your baby’s bath water to help heal and soothe diaper rashes. Baking soda, or sodium bicarbonate, neutralizes acids, balances the body’s pH, and discourages the growth of yeast, bacteria, and infection. It thoroughly cleanses body cavities to leave your baby’s skin healthy.

Coconut Oil

Apply a dime sized amount to each side or where the rash is present. before bedtime, after your baby’s bath when their bottom is clean and dry. Coconut oil contains antimicrobial, anti-viral, anti-bacterial and antifungal properties that help to promote healing. It has lauric acid that treats bacterial and fungal problems very effectively to help fight the yeast.

Cornstarch

Adding just a small sprinkle of cornstarch after cleaning to a diaper rash can help to lessen the severity of the rash by getting rid of any excess moisture. Yeast thrives on moist environments! Please note this may not work on rashes that are not caused by yeast.

Oatmeal Bath Soak

Add 2 tbsp. of dried oatmeal to bath water and let you baby soak in the tub for 10-15 minutes. You can do this twice daily. The high amount of protein in oatmeal soothes a baby’s soft skin and helps preserve the skin’s natural protective barrier. It also contains the chemical compound saponin, which helps remove unwanted oils and dirt from the skin pores.

Vinegar

Stale urine is extremely alkaline in nature and can burn a baby’s soft skin like an acid. To balance out the high pH, vinegar is one of the best ingredients. If you are using reusable diapers or cloth diapers, rinse them in a vinegar solution. Add one-half cup of vinegar to half a bucket of water and use it to rinse your baby’s diapers. This will help get rid of any soap buildup in the diapers as well as any urine smell. Make a very weak vinegar solution by adding one teaspoon of white vinegar to one cup of water. Use this solution to wipe your baby’s bottom when changing the diaper. This simple step will help to make your baby’s bottom resistant to yeast.

Breastmilk

Breast milk, which helps fight infection and soothes the skin, is the best and least expensive way to cure diaper rash. Plus, with breast milk there is no risk of an allergic reaction that can worsen the condition. Simply rub a few drops of breast milk on the affected skin as often as needed, and allow the area to air dry before putting on a new diaper.

Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil is a natural anti-fungal. Many parents report success with applying 5 drops tea tree oil mixed with 2 tablespoons of coconut oil. Notes: Do not apply undiluted tea tree oil to skin – it will burn!
