**NEED ADVICE ASAP 😭 I'm in a dental hygiene program and I'm supposed to be graduating in May but I'm due in March. My doctor told me that it's best to take 6 weeks off from school to be with the baby. I tried explaining this to my instructors and they said "well idk why your doctor would say that because when I had a baby I only took two weeks off and we've seen other girls who this has happened to and they were only out for a week or two so this is your choice" basically my only option is to take off all of spring semester and come back in a year to finish when they offer the spring semester courses and clinic again and they will only let me back in "if they have space for me". I feel like my doctor is right and I need to spend that time with my baby and besides that I'm a single mom I'm going to be the one up all night every night with this baby and I have no one that will watch him. Daycares don't typically take babies under 6 weeks old

I'd say tell you teacher to shove it. Your baby is More important and needs you for at least 6 weeks non stop to be there.

Thank you Thats exactly what I want to say to them lol there's four instructors in this program and they're all making me feel like I'm making a mistake and making me feel guilty. I just hope they'll take me back in a year because I've worked so hard! @prom cessmama

You can actually sue the school or program if they doc your performance for you being with your baby. I've never heard of a professor being so ignorant before. I'm sorry your having to deal with such a eneducated moron. Get a note from your OB saying your on maternity leave for 6 weeks

Your body probably won't even be healed in 1-2 weeks. You need to do what's best for you and your baby. If that means taking a year away from school, then so be it. How hard would it be to pick up where you left off?

I agree with @mcrowell0970 it's possible to do it! But do what's best for you! You can't sue a program or school. Schools don't excuse you for maternity leave unless you're an employee there. Good luck mom! 😊
