I have my 38week appointment on 24th November and my midwife will do a sweep for me.
So girls I have a question ❓. Does anybody ever gave birth after a first sweep? And how do u feel afterwards should I go on my own cos my husband working or I need someone with me? And I heard that some woman can give birth the next day 😊 is that true? Xxx

Sweeps only tend to work if your body in in the right stage for going into labour....I had one at 1cm and went to 8cms within an hour :) Hmm but some women can have 2/3 and it not do anything xxx

@myfirstbaby2016 At 38 chances are that your body wont be naturally ready hun....but it's worth a try...5% are born on their due date...majority fall before and after :) Nothing wrong with going overdue...its actually healthier for the baby to be born closer to its due due...as beforehand will result in some issues... My girl was born at 39+1 (my waters had broken the previous day) Although very healthy....jaundice was a big issue (although very common in newborns) xx

@myfirstbaby2016, i had one at 41weeks 5days at 12 oclock the midwife came and done my sweep and by 2 i was in labour. but its abit of a sharp pain when they give u a sweep and then u will be fine well unless u start contracting.. i think u will be fine and wont need ur man with u.. but if u anythink like me and start contracting a couple of hours later then u can ring the OH lol. @winterbaby95 u seem to give lots of advice and ive read before on one of ur status's that u had sed we carry up till 38 weeks the way the docs work it out so if thats the case wudnt she be ready for labour?

Had my first sweep at 10.30am my waters went at 10.30pm that day so it does work it just depends on the person and how far your body is ready x

@baybiijord Not necessarily...sweeps dont work on everyone...even if they are over due... They say from 37 weeks you are classed as full term (my midwife said that) so if you go into labour..they wont stop it...but I mean every baby is different at certain stages..... Some babies are born earlier than they are ready to be born... I think you should just leave it for nature to take its course...I was given a sweep because I couldn't go over 24 hours when my waters broke..they did that to speed things up....even though I was 1cm....the midwives acted like I was going to take hours to get into active labour..... After the sweep...things happened instantly my contractions became more regular and I made them check me and I was 8cms...the midwives were shocked! xxx
