Lets not beat around the bush, there are some days when you literally want to tear every last hair out of your head. And any mother that says she's never experienced this is lying.

We love our children dearly, to the point that we'd die for them but we are just humans. And we do have other feelings. Like being pissed off when our kids are being like shits! That doesn't make us a bad parent, what could make us bad parents is how we act on that anger built up inside us.

Shouting for instance, it's no good for anyone. But we've all had the sleepless newborn nights like,

"Child why are you awake? God why are you doing this to me? I'm shattered and you're letting this baby scream the house down at 4 in the morning!"

If you're mother of a toddler you'll have also had these words leave your mouth,

"I'm not gonna tell you again... If you do that once more... I'm gonna tell daddy when he gets home... Do that again and you won't get..."

It's normal. Completely fucking normal.

Sometimes shouting is the only option... Maybe they're about to do something that could harm them. Shouting at them for shock works a treat and they soon stop and forget about what naughty little thing they were about to do but I've also found repeatedly taking Harry away from a situation stops him too. He had this mad obsession with getting all the saucepan lids out of the cupboard and pushing them around the kitchen floor... It did sometimes get to the point where I was like

"AHHHHHH" but I just got up put the lids away, sat him on the sofa and repeated this until he got the message.

Like I said, it's normal to feel wound up and feel like you're at the end of your tether. We're not robots after all, so if you need to remove yourself from the room, have a scream or have a little cry. Or even just pray that your child will nap soon then do so.

If I didn't I'm pretty sure I'd either be grey by now or have no hair left in my head at all.

Children are hard work, especially toddlers in the terrible two's. Harder than any job you'll ever do. But it's so worth it too. It's this age you're moulding them into the little adult they'll grow to be.
