@tamoss817, they are scary. Watch for scabbing. If it starts to scab take her to the dr. This is a sign of ulceration and can be very painful. I would suggest getting ahold of a children's hospital. We went to children's and went to the vascular anomalies clinic. His pediatrician wouldn't treat it but children's did. By the size of it they would likely put her on medication. How old is she?
@babyjjsmommy, it is a birthmark but they are not born with it. Most show up in a week or so. His will go down with the hemangeol. He started it Tuesday and I already notice a difference. I was told the medication works fast!
@stacydoffin, thank you!! They don't have her on anything because of where it is. They are just watching it and making sure it doesn't grow or change colors too quickly. She wasn't born with hers either. Hers showed up at about a week old and was that size by a month old. It scared me a lot.
Wow, that is so crazy! Poor baby 😥 so they expect it to go down with the treatment right? Yeah my sons was growing very fast the first few weeks because he wasn't even born with it. It showed up within the first week and grew up to 1/4 of an inch. His dr. Thought it would get a lot bigger as he grew but it hasn't at all. Thankfully!
@ilovemyfamily123 , keep an eye on your sons. They are more likely to ulcerate and get infected if they are in the diaper region because of moisture and bacteria. I would also ask his doctor about hemangeol. Best wishes!
@tamoss817 ask about hemangeol that's what they gave my son. Best wishes I hope she gets better! She beautiful btw
@meilin91, it is a birth mark but it starts to go away after the first year they call it a strawberry tumor
my son has one on his private parts the doctors said as long as it's not near a whole or on his face he's fine it's get huge the first year nd than it shrinks they will give you eye drops to make it shrink if it's too big but if it's near a whole they said they would've done surgery
It's been like this from day one, I think it's actually shrinking or it's just staying small. @stacydoffin
@stacydoffin, we are seeing a children's dermatologist and plastic surgeon. I opted for them not to treat it unless it was medically necessary. Like it was hurting her or had attached to major blood vessels or internal organs. It's not scabbing or growing. It's going away on its own. It has shrank 1.65 centimeters and is beginning to lighten on its own. They are watching it closely and we have appointments with them every 6 weeks. She is 8 months old and we have been seeing them since she was 3 months old.
